The session

What a hotel session looks like

For musicians between shows, speakers in town for a conference and executives with one free afternoon. The room stays a hotel room. For a few hours, it also has cameras, lights and an engineer.

In a suite, the living room becomes the set. Cameras, lights and the switcher fit around the furniture that's already there.

What's included

We bring the studio. You bring the guests.

Every hotel session uses our standard kit and an on-site engineer. Nothing to rent, nothing to borrow from the front desk.

  • 3 Sony a6400 cameras recording in 4K
  • 3 Shure MV7X podcast mics on floor stands, plus wireless lavaliers
  • 2 LED lights with 26-inch lantern softboxes
  • RØDECaster Video switcher for a live-switched HD master
  • Behringer X-Air XR18 16-channel digital mixer
  • Our own battery power station, which runs the full kit for at least 6 hours
  • An on-site engineer for setup, recording and teardown
  • Raw files within 24 hours: multitrack audio, every camera's 4K ISO file and a switched master
  • Suites and standard rooms

A suite gives guests room to spread out. A standard room still fits two hosts at a small table.

  • Discreet in and out

The whole kit packs into cases on one hand truck. It comes up in the elevator and leaves the same way.

  • Our power, not the room's

Our battery power station runs the full kit for at least 6 hours, so there's no hunting for outlets behind the nightstand.

  • Quiet on set

Once we're set up, it's you, your guests and an engineer at a compact desk off to the side.

FAQ

Hotel session questions

Does a standard room work, or do we need a suite?

Both work. A suite gives you room for more guests and wider shots. A standard room handles two people at a small table, with the cameras, lights and control desk around them. Mention the room type when you request a quote and we'll plan the layout around it.

Do you need to plug into the room?

Not for most sessions. Our battery power station runs the full kit for at least 6 hours, so we don't need the room's outlets. On a longer day, like the on-location day rate (8 hours), we plug into the room for part of the day.

How long does setup take?

Under an hour from load-in to recording for our standard 3-camera setup. Setup and teardown are part of your booked time, which starts when we arrive. When you're done, everything packs back into cases on one hand truck and leaves with us.

What do we get after the session?

Raw files arrive within 24 hours by cloud download link, or we copy them to your own drive on site. That's multitrack audio, every camera's 4K ISO file and a switched master. The recordings are yours once the booking is paid in full. We don't store files after delivery, so download and back them up right away. Full episode editing and social clips are quoted with your booking.

Can you live stream from the room?

Yes. We can stream to YouTube, Twitch, X, LinkedIn or a private platform. Live streaming is quoted with your booking, so mention it on the quote form and we'll plan it with you.

What does a hotel session cost?

$449 an hour with a 2-hour minimum ($898), or $2,999 for 8 hours. Booked time starts when we arrive and includes setup (under an hour) and teardown. Bookings are paid in full to reserve your date. We accept credit or debit card, ACH bank transfer, or check. See pricing and the booking terms.
